Joan Rosenberg comments concerning her work, “I work in porcelain because of its smoothness, whiteness, and lack of spots…its delicate, fragile yet elegant appearance. My work is vessel oriented, linking it historically with the tradition of clay, yet is presented formally as sculpture. The vessel has become the structure in which I float and juxtapose elements to activate/alter the interior space, creating a quiet balance. My work tends toward the minimal, annulling the extraneous, composed only for those parts necessary to complete the form. Structure, form, surface, and balance, presented formally, are my main aesthetic considerations”.
