Kaname Takada received his BA of Fine Arts from the Columbus College of Art & Design, going on to earn his MA of Fine Arts in Ceramics from the University of Notre Dame. He has exhibited work in France, New Zealand, Japan, and throughout the United States. Kaname considers his pieces tactile, and wants the viewer to realize their potential through the possibility of touch. With "Plate #17," black "nubs" protrude from the surface, creating an element of texture that itches to be felt. Kaname states that "It would be my great pleasure if the viewer would enjoy and appreciate my work emotionally and physically rather than intellectually. Ultimately my work succeeds when it makes the viewer want to touch it." Currently, Kaname is a Professor of Ceramics at his alma mater, the Columbus College of Art & Design.
