Richard L. Cook was born in Canton, Ohio and was a member of the 1936 graduating class at McKinley High School. He studied at the Cleveland School of Art and further his studies in Long, Paris and Chicago. Cook was Art Director and Consultant at the Chicago Tribune. His main hobby outside of the art world was sailing and he often participated in sailing races at the Chicago Yacht Club. He died in Sarasota, Florida on March 11, 1986 at the age of 67.
