Barbara Rogers’ works capture the intensity of the color experience and the hidden beauty of the everyday. Jungle Red is from a period of time in Rogers’ career where she was creating compelling pictures of romantic love and the settings in which we encounter or imagine it, such as painting your nails for a date. "Jungle Red" is the name of the nail polish in the 1939 film "The Women," where on the occasion that a client asked the nail technician to paint their nails with "Jungle Red," it meant that the client wanted to know all of the gossip involving other women who frequented the salon.
